NHS Wales have launched a Choose Well app for iphones which provides information that patients require to choose the most appropriate healthcare service to meet their needs. The Choose Well campaign’s aim is to better educate patients about the various health services available to them, encourage them to self care where appropriate and reduce inappropriate pressure on emergency and primary care services.
The National Self Care Forum and the NHS are working together to promote self care for common health complaints over the summer, as part of the Choose Well campaign. The main messages for the campaign are that self-care is the best option if you have a common summer health complaint and that your high street pharmacy can give you expert advice without an appointment. A number of resources have been produced for the campaign including an electronic flyer Summer health survival guide which contains basic advice on common summer complaints such as hay fever and insect bites, and the medicine cabinet essentials needed to treat them, helping families get ready for the school summer holidays.
