The NHS has launched a call for views on changes to the law that would make it easier to deliver integrated care and other aspects of the NHS Long Term Plan.
The changes, summarised in a consultation document, would limit the effects of competition laws which have until now been seen as a bar to integrated care. They would also help clear the way for the proposed merger of NHS England and NHS Improvement.
The document also proposes changes to the payments system to permit “local flexibility” in the tariff – the rate set for reimbursing secondary care providers for their services.
The deadline for responses is 25 April 2019.
