The national Shared Decision Making Programme comes to an end this week. The programme developed a number of resources on shared decision making, including 37 Patient Decision Aids (PDAs) on a wide variety of health conditions and procedures.
The PDAs – created by top clinical and patient experts based on latest evidence – are aimed at patients and their carers to support their difficult healthcare decisions. People who use decision aids say they understand their health problem and treatment choices more clearly.
Access all the PDAs at http://www.rightcare.nhs.uk/index.php/shared-decision-making/about-the-pdas/. All of the Patient Decision Aids have associated Apps, with versions for Android and Apple devices. Patients can download them from the Google Play Store or iTunes store from their device. They were developed by Totally Health and will be moved to NHS Choices within the next few months.
The SDM programme also developed a 5 minute film for patients which explains PDAs very clearly. http://vimeo.com/55875960
