The Self Care Forum, organiser of Self Care Week, is encouraging people-facing organisations to participate in this national awareness initiative to help people embrace Self Care for Life and increase their levels of health literacy.
Self Care Week (13 – 19 November 2017), which has been running since 2009, is an excellent vehicle to communicate a variety of self care messages whether it’s:
- self treatment of common ailments,
- self management for long term conditions,
- signposting to health services,
- appropriate antibiotic use or
- prevention and lifestyle.
Strengthen your self care message(s) and impact by working with others in the local community such as pharmacy, the local authority, schools, businesses, healthwatch etc to provide people in your local population with a real chance to improve their physical health and mental wellbeing.
A £500 prize is available for the best Self Care Week initiative and resources are available on the Self Care Forum website including: logos, TV screen, fact sheets and a communications document with ideas and tips for your Self Care Week campaign. To help plan and structure your activities a Self Care Week case study is also available.
