A government consultation on proposals to tackle the causes of preventable ill health is running until 14 October.
Advancing our health: prevention in the 2020s, is seeking views on proposals to help people live healthier, happier lives for longer.
The green paper focuses on three main areas – services, choices and conditions. It argues we need to make the most of opportunities by:
- Bringing in a new wave of intelligent public health, which is more proactive, predictive and personalised, while also taking tough action on the biggest challenges – smoking, obesity and mental ill-health.
- Taking a behavioural science approach to some of the biggest challenges on prevention by making healthy choices as easy as possible and, in some cases, making all options healthier
- Viewing health as our most precious asset, and not just a problem to fix when it goes wrong.
