The NHS is holding a policy consultation on patient registration, funding and contracting rules under digital-first primary care.
The Long Term Plan made a commitment that every patient will have the right to be offered digital-first primary care by 2023/24. But current GP contract rules weren’t designed for digital-first services.
Key goals for the proposals include:
- Changing how the system works so it can ensure the money follows the patient;
- Making it easier for existing GP surgeries to expand and improve their own digital services;
- Ensuring digital-first providers can register new patients in areas where people can’t currently access digital GP services.
The consultation runs until 23 August 2019.
