    PiF member recognised with Macmillan Innovation Excellence award

    The Macmillan Professionals Excellence Awards are a chance for Macmillan to recognise and thank pioneering teams and individuals who deliver the highest standards of care for people affected by cancer. The winners, chosen by a specialist panel, demonstrate excellence in their field.

    Sharon Clarke, a member of the Patient Information Forumhas been selected to receive an award in Innovation Excellence. Award winners have all improved the quality and experience of care for people affected by cancer through creating exciting new initiatives, products and services.

    The panel said:

    “Sharon has worked passionately and shown great innovation. She’s pushed boundaries to ensure quality assured Macmillan information is available throughout the Southern Health and Social Care Trust (SHSCT) area.”

    “Working across a large rural population of 370,000, she’s worked tirelessly to reach as many people as possible. Sharon’s hosted events that crossed ethnic barriers and reached into all sections of the community. Now, thanks to Sharon, 79% of GPs in the SHSCT area are part of the Macmillan information project – with 100% saying it’s been beneficial to their patients.”

    Sharon was given the Awards at a ceremony 13 November, at the Hilton Metropole Hotel in Birmingham. The ceremony is part of a two day annual educational and networking event for Macmillan professionals. The awards host was Former World Champion Swimmer and Record Holder Mark Foster. 83 people were nominated for the Awards this year and 11 winners awarded , including two for Innovation Excellence.
