NHS Digital has added this new guide to social care and support to provide guidance to people who may need social care, their families and carers.
The guide has been written by experts and extensively tested with users, including members of the public, local authorities, care providers and the third sector. It provides clear information about social care to help people understand their options and where to go if they need help.
Councils, NHS organisations and care providers can signpost people to the information and reuse it on their own websites through a free syndication service which pulls up-to-date content directly from nhs.uk onto their website or mobile application1.
James Higgott, responsible for the care and support guide at NHS Digital, said “When researching this project, it was clear that people were coming to the NHS website to try and find trusted advice on social care and support, so we knew there was a need for a central resource to provide national information about the options they have and to direct them to the people who can help them.
“Councils and the social care sector hold a wealth of advice on local services available to people who may need them, so it was really important that we work closely with them. This new guide is a great example of how we’re bringing health and social care together.”
The NHS website has published a new series of medicine profiles aimed at patients and members of the public. The author of the profiles, UK Medicines Information, advises community pharmacy teams to send patients to the relevant pages at nhs.uk/medicines to find out more about their medicines.
