    Libraries and Patient Information Workshop

    This one day workshop is intended to address issues of concern and to explore the variety of information sources and support for patients, carers and the public through health library provision and to demonstrate the activities being undertaken by a variety of information providers. The workshop is intended to create an action plan of realistic and achievable ways for library managers to promote health information for patients, carers and the public. Aimed primarily but not solely for Library Managers, you are very welcome to attend.

    • Steph Bradley, Primary Care Librarian: public health information perspective
    • Paul Stevenson, Library Manager: information service for patients in an acute trust – benefits and pitfalls when setting up a new service
    • Will Baker: one expert patient’s perspective on information needs 
    • Gillian Foster, Clinical Information Specialist, NHS Direct: Managing challenging questions from patients
    • Dr Malcolm Rigler: Guided web-surfing in GP consultations and/or the importance of the “Libraries and Health” partnership
