Nicole Naylor, Head of Operations at PIF, was delighted to attend the BMA Patient Information Awards on Tuesday this week and see so many PIF members awarded for the hard work that they do.
PIF took part in the awards process as both reviewers and on the judging panel. Nicole presented the Runner Up Special Award for Young Adults to The Children’s Trust for Me and my Brain and to the Winner of this category – the British Heart Foundation for Transition: your journey from paediatric into adult services.
Nicole commented that “The transition for children or adolescents into adult care can be a daunting time and is sometimes a neglected area of healthcare. Some of the issues covered in this fantastic video resource are relevant for the average adolescent, not just a young person with a heart condition, and this helps normalise the issues raised for this target audience.” Watch this fantastic resource here.
The overall Resource of the Year winner was NHS Health Scotland and the Scottish Government’s Let’s nip cervical cancer in the bud campaign.
Several additional special awards are also assigned to the best resources in certain specific categories. 13 special award first prizes and 13 runner up prizes were made from the rest of the highly commended awards, including: Children, Decision-making, Easy read, Equality, diversity & inclusion, Ethics, Innovation, Long-term conditions, Screening, Self-care, Trusts, User engagement, Well-being, Young adults.
We congratulate all runners up and winners of the BMA Awards and are very proud to support such a wonderfully talented group of information producers and providers. Well done!!
It was also lovely to see Louise Coghlin – from the PIF Advisory Group receive acknowledgement at the event for her role in acting as a BMA Reviewer for the last five years.
Patient groups and charities who would like to enter the awards next year should contact Richard Jones in the BMA Library on email@example.com
