Sarah has worked in Consumer Health Information since 2000 and is currently a Librarian in a Mental Health Hospital, specialising in Mental Health Information but also supporting the Trust and the local community with health promotion on all aspects of health and well being. Sarah was recruited in March 2013 to help drive the library service forward, introducing new initiatives such as mobile technology, improved communications, literature searching, and training, etc.
Until March 2013 Sarah was a Clinical Librarian at NHS Direct, having worked there for 12 years. Here Sarah was responsible for developing and maintaining an up to date library and information service for NHS Direct, specifically aimed at information for the patient, and also contributed to the development of the Patient Decision Aids and Health and Symptom Checkers. Sarah also later supported clinical research and undertook searches contributing to a Cochrane Systematic Review on telehealth.
Sarah actively participates in raising the awareness of consumer health information by attending and speaking at various events, and is involved in many groups which specialise in Health Information, including the SHALL Consumer Health Information Group, and sits on the committee of the CILIP Health Libraries Group and Libraries for Nursing group.
