    2013 College of Medicine Award for Innovation in Self-Care

    The College of Medicine is an independent charity based at Guy’s Hospital dedicated to supporting patients and clinicians to create health for individuals and local communities. It is the first ever College to include patients and representatives of a wide range of therapeutic disciplines as full members of its governing Council. College officers include Sir Graeme Catto (former President of the GMC) and Professor Sir Ian Kennedy (former Chair of the Healthcare Commission). Their vision is to put the health in the hands of the people and clinicians who care for them.

    The College of Medicine (CoM) is launching an award for innovative, patient-centred, self care practices and projects that exemplify the College’s key principles. Judges include Professor Mike Pringle CBE, Professor David Peters and Faith Hallett (Vice Chair CoM Patients’ Council). Projects shortlisted will be celebrated at an awards ceremony which will be held at the College’s annual conference at the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists on June 11th 2013

    Winning prize:

    • A 4 minute professional produced mini-documentary to help raise your project’s profile
    • One complementary place at the CoM annual conference on 11/06/13
    • ‘Demonstration site’ status with an enhanced profile on the College’s Innovations Network
    • An innovations certificate
    • Inclusion of project materials either in the Conference delegate material (and/or in the general exhibition)
    • Two free places at a prestigious conference dinner

    Runners up (up to 2 projects) will be awarded:

    • One complementary place at the CoM annual conference on 11/06/13
    • ‘Demonstration site’ status with an enhanced profile on the College’s Innovations Network
    • An innovations certificate

    The closing date for applications is 8 March 2013.
