Expert On Call - 18th February, 4pm-5pm
Involving Patients in Treatment Decisions
Angela Coulter
Nowadays, most people would agree that patients should be involved in decisions about their care, but this is far from an everyday reality in the NHS. How can this goal be realised? Angela Coulter (PhD, Hon FFPH, Hon FRCGP - Director of Global Initiatives at the Foundation for Informed Medical Decision Making) will discuss the principles of shared decision making, how to apply these in everyday practice and what commissioners and providers can do to ensure that patients get the care they need and want.
The NHS Institute supports the NHS to transform healthcare for patients and the public by rapidly developing and spreading new ways of working, new technology, and world class leadership. Expert on Call gives leading thinkers from the NHS Institute and beyond the opportunity to share their experiences and answer questions from NHS staff working in service improvement. The shared decisions session will be of interest to staff at any level who are engaged in quality improvement or want to develop new ways of working which are effective and sustainable.
During this virtual webinar you will have the opportunity to hear Angela and ask questions and exchange ideas. To register for this event just click here
