Editorial Assistant (fixed term contract), full time, based in London
Reporting to the Business Development Manager, Group Medical, Bupa
Job summary
To assist with the production and promotion of a range of health information resources and manage the Health Information Team’s administration.
Accountabilities
The Editorial Assistant supports the production and review of Bupa's health factsheets and other resources.
Specific activities include; circulating draft content to reviewers, and chasing comments to ensure that deadlines are met. The Editorial Assistant also proof-reads health information on UAT before publication, and ensures that production databases are kept up to date.
The Editorial Assistant has the opportunity to write health articles for consumer publications and write news stories for the Bupa website. They will also be responsible for producing a quarterly health information newsletter for Bupa departments and key health information users.
To support the team's administrative needs, the Editorial Assistant monitors and responds to telephone and email enquiries, and manages the availability of printed literature via our print suppliers. Other tasks include travel booking, processing invoices, occassional filing and ordering stationery.
The Editorial Assistant is also involved in promotional actitivities, such as arranging for the team to exhiibit at health information conferences.
Specific skills
The successful applicant will have experience in an administrative role and working to deadlines, excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to juggle multiple priorities.
Knowledge of MS Office and MS Access is required. Some experience of using desktop publishing software, such as Quark XPress, Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop would be an advantage, but training can be provided. Also, proof-reading skills and some knowledge of HTML are desirable, but again, training will be offered.
