Swap It, Don’t Stop It
The Change4Life message to overweight adults is that you don’t have to
completely stop all the things you love – you can swap some things
instead. One of the best ways to be healthy is to make some swaps and
build them into life for the long term. Six behaviours have been developed that all sit under the banner of 'swaps' and house different exercise and nutritional goals:
- Plate swap
- 5 A Day
- Up and about
- Snack swap
- Fibre swap
- Drink swap
You can view/download a tips leaflet aimed at adults called ‘Swap It, Don’t Stop It’ on the Department of Health website. The leaflet is also available to order from the DH online publications orderline.
Change4Life are creating a range of resources to support the campaign including an FAQ sheet, language and brand guidelines and an employers’ toolkit. Information about these resources will be on the DH website soon.
The advertising campaign will direct adults to the Change4Life website to register - 45-65 year olds will be sent a pack aimed to help them get swapping. On the Change4Life website they will also find information about the behaviours, tips and ideas and a short self-assessment tool where users can assess how they are doing with various diet and activity goals and identify swaps that might be appropriate for them.
