The Prostate Cancer Charity has recently launched Prostate Cancer Voices, Prostate Cancer Voices is a network of people affected by prostate cancer. The Charity uses their knowledge and experiences to influence the development of our support services.  We also add their voice to our campaigning for improved prostate cancer health services.  Through Prostate Cancer Voices we will invite participants to respond to surveys, to take part in focus groups, to comment online about current issues facing those living with the disease and to represent people affected by prostate cancer on the Charity’s key advisory and decision-making groups.

Hormone therapy survey

Prostate Cancer Voices’ first large-scale survey will focus on hormone therapy, which is commonly used as a treatment for prostate cancer. We have developed two surveys that invite men and the partners of men receiving hormone therapy to respond and share their views on this form of treatment as it can have some significant side effects including fatigue, hot flushes, weight gain and a loss of libido that can seriously affect the quality of life of a man and his partner.

The results of the surveys will inform a new area of policy work that the Charity is currently developing around hormone therapy, its side effects and the support and information available to men and the partners of men who have received the treatment.  We want to ensure that men who receive this treatment (and their partners) have access to the information and support they need.  The surveys can be downloaded or completed online via their website, www.prostate-cancer.org.uk/campaigning/tellus.asp.  Alternatively, paper copies of the surveys can be requested by calling 0208 222 7637 or emailing voices@prostate-cancer.org.uk.
