This joint Association of Social Care Communicators/ PiF seminar looks at the Information Standard and its application in the social care arena (adult care, children and family care, and the voluntary sector). It will give you the chance to check out The Information Standard, including what has happened so far, what the options are now and what to do next. The seminar takes place on March 29th in London.

We're delighted to announce that we have three new regional co-ordinators - for the East Midlands, for the North West and for Yorkshire and Humber. We have had a number of co-ordinators step down so we also still have some vacancies to fill, in Wales, the North East of England, South Central and London. Many thanks to all of our former co-ordinators for their time and energy.

PiF event: Healthy Journalism seminar

This PiF seminar, held in conjunction with The Wellcome Trust, looks at health journalism and explores the challenges and solutions involved in producing information for the public. The seminar is aimed at journalists, journalism students and press officers. The event is free to attend and will be held on April 20th at the Wellcome Trust in London.

Membership review

As from 1st April 2010 PiF will be making changes to membership services and benefits as well as to fees. We will be introducing new membership categories for small teams and organisations, whilst retaining the individual membership that PiF members enjoy now. There will also be membership opportunities for larger organisations that wish to partner with PiF or more generally support the organisation. There will also be more services and benefits on offer to members. The membership fee will rise from April 1st, so if your subscription is due before then, make sure you take advantage of the current rate.

The state of consumer health information: an overview

PiF Directors Sarah Smith and Mark Duman have written a review article for the Health Information and Libraries Journal. The review, called 'The state of consumer health information' takes a broad look at consumer health information in the UK, exploring issues such as health literacy and new technologies and examining the current and future role of library services in providing consumer health information.
