Vacancy: Care Information Co-Ordinator, Motor Neurone Disease Association

Motor Neurone Disease (MND) is a fatal disease of the brain and central nervous system. The MND Association exists to ensure that people with MND can achieve the highest quality of life possible, and to fund and promote research to bring an end to MND. They are recruiting for a Care Information Co-ordinator to develop information resources and internal and external communications.You will need to have previous experience of producing and reviewing evidence based information. The post is full time and based in Northampton. Closing date is 16 March 2010.

A survey published in the New England Journal of Medicine this week shows that despite the growing popularity of the Internet, American's put more trust in the health expertise of their doctors. The study found that trust in web-based sources of information has declined slightly and that many people are using the Internet as a first source for health information before discussing questions with their doctors.

Conference: Patient Involvement and Empowerment 2010

Sessions include measuring the outcomes of patient involvement in an NHS Trust; empowering patients to lead on quality improvement; learning from patient experience and the power of patients and users to improve services and practice.

The conference programme includes discussion seminars led by policy experts and will enable to you to explore in detail the specific issues more appropriate to your work. There are seminars on health in later life and on information needs, to enable older people to make choices. The conference takes place in London on 18 March 2010.
