New guidelines for patients on stroke and TIA from the Scottish Intercollegiate Guideline Network (SIGN) have been published this week. The guideline emphasises the importance of getting patients to specialist stroke services quickly to allow prompt diagnosis and treatment. The guideline for patients covers:
- What is a stroke or a TIA
- How will I know if I've had a stroke or TIA
- What will happen when I get to the hospital?
- What tests will I need?
- What treatment will I have?
