News > Medicines information
Tuesday 12th December 2006, 10 am - 1 pm
The Westminster Room, IBM South Bank, 76 Upper Ground, London SE1 9PZ
This workshop, for a maximum of 50 participants (including presenters), will start with a range of presentations, followed by a working lunch, and then an afternoon of action-orientated discussion. Costs are £45 for PiF and/ or HCI members and £95 for non-PiF/ HCI members. Five free places will be offered to patients/ service users as we are keen for them to contribute to the discussion.
Presentations include:
- Communicating benefit and risk – Simon Gregor, Director of Communications, Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA)
- Meeting information demands on the High Street – Andrew Murdock, Pharmacy Director, LloydsPharmacy
- Information at the touch of a button – John White, Managing Director, HealthPoint Technologies Europe Ltd
- Dispensing information as well as medicines – Ben Squires, Pharmacy Collaborative & Dental Development Manager, Stockport Primary Care Trust
- What information do patients want? Fin McCaul, Pharmacist Owner, Prestwich Pharmacy
A key objective of the event is for people involved in this increasingly important area to meet up to share and learn from each other’s experiences. We’re also keen to see if we can join up some of these various activities and investigate the potential benefits to be gained from improved coordination. Ideally we’d like to collate some of the ideas into a report that can be published on the PiF website (www.pifonline.org.uk). This will provide others with some pointers and ideas when looking at how to improve medicines information in pharmacies.
