The Information Standard’s view on 2010 PiF member survey results…
A lack of budget and resources, combined with increasing pressure to achieve results. These are the key challenges cited by PIF survey respondents. With Andrew Lansley promising ‘an information revolution’, demands are set to increase. While we welcome the government’s focus on information, this may present an increasing challenge to achieve more with less.
Achieving certification against our standard requires a cost and resource commitment costs, and we recognise that budget and resource limitations could make certification seem out of reach. So we’ve designed an incentive package to remove these obstacles and help organisations achieve certification more quickly and easily.
We have 100 £5,000 grants which will be allocated on a first-come first-served basis to not-for-profit and charitable organisations who sign up to achieve certification. These funds should cover all certification and surveillance costs for the first two years, as well as the cost of additional temporary resource to help with the certification process. Remember our support team is also available as a free resource to offer help and advice every step of the way.
The survey also highlighted other concerns including the need to save costs, generate efficiencies and to promote the benefits of quality information. The Information Standard can deliver on all of these fronts. The scheme provides a comprehensive framework for continuous improvement which helps increase efficiencies, standardise and streamline processes - and by gaining certification you are demonstrating the importance you place on quality information.
