News > Producing and disseminating health information
Health Consumer Powerhouse organised a Seminar on the 12th of January in the European Parliament.
There are currently important differences across Europe in terms of access to the healthcare information. However, healthcare systems are starting to see high-quality patient information as an opportunity to improve care and health outcomes. Different systems are being established around Europe, which allow patients to access a range of good information sources in their local language. All these approaches have one common objective: to empower patients in order to take a more active and responsible role in decisions affecting their own health.
In co-operation with MEPs Christofer Fjellner, Antonyia Parvanova, Antonio Correia De Campos, and Milan Cabrnoch, this event idenitfied current gaps, discussed some new and promising approaches as well as ways forward. Presentations for the following are on the web site.
- The growing empowerment of European patients and care consumers
- What patients want to know
- European models for patient information on medicines
- Open information as a strategic tool for healthcare improvement
