Forthcoming Regional Events

PiF holds a number of events in the countries of the UK and in the regions of England each year. These are a mix of events that are open to everyone and those that are for members only. Usually regional events focus on a specific topic area, or are aimed at particular sectors. However, sometimes our events are as much about networking as they are about learning new skills or updating your knowldge. We know that working in consumer health information can be very isolating, so an opportunity to get together with others is most welcome.

Our regional events are usually organised and run by PiF's regional and country co-ordinators. You can find out who your local contact is by going to the 'In your area' section of the web site.

London Event for PiF Members in the Voluntary Sector
Evaluating the Impact of Information
Friday 24 February 2012, 12.00 – 16.30
at Macmillan Cancer Support, London  SE1 7UQ

This half day event focuses on the topic of evaluating the impact of information and explores, through presentations and group discussion, what this means for organisations in the voluntary sector. Evaluation of information resources and services is an area that is sometimes overlooked and often a challenge to get right. Finding out whether your information meets the needs of your users, discovering how it is used or what happens to it once it has left your organisation, and exploring the impact it has on an individual’s decisions, confidence, understanding and behaviour are all important aspects of providing high quality information.

This event aims to help you discuss these important issues with other voluntary sector information producers and learn from organisations that are already undertaking, or planning, this type of work. The programme includes time for structured group work and networking and aims to help you move forward with your plans, work or thinking in this area.  Through this ability to share experiences we aim to create a ‘collective wisdom’ that will provide a framework for developing an evaluation strategy.  This can then be shared with other PiF members.

In addition to the discussions about evaluation we are also delighted that Jeremy Taylor from National Voices will be attending to outline and discuss the progress of the Department of Health’s Future Forum 2 work stream on Information, and what that will mean for you.

The event is held in London but is open to voluntary sector organisations from outside London as well. Places are limited to 30 participants so you are advised to book your place early. The event is free to attend.
