15 December 2009 -12.30-4.30pm
Royal Society of Medicine, London

Melinda Letts, Joanne Rule and Jean Thompson are working together on a Learning Event to explore with Voluntary Health Organisations (VHOs) the question ‘What information do people want about their medicines?’

You’re invited to take part in the Learning Event, and to work together with other VHOs to research this question. VHOs already participating include Diabetes UK, MacMillan Cancer Support, Arthritis Care, amongst others.

What should you expect to gain from attending the Learning Event?

  • Evidence-based findings about what information people want about medicines (based on the views of people with whom you are in touch as well as the views of people with whom a wide range of participating voluntary health organisations are in touch)
  • A hands-on look at the dynamic online environment, exploring the diverse range of websites providing information about health and medicines
  • An exploration of the information needs of people whose needs are often not met, such as those with low health literacy, who are digitally excluded, have learning difficulties etc
  • A briefing about the online medicines information resource Medicine Guides (created by Datapharm with the help of a stakeholder advisory board), an overview about how it is developing and an opportunity for you to help shape its future direction
  • Networking and exchange of ideas with other voluntary health organisations that share your interests and concerns.
