Developing an Information Strategy for NHS organisations
15 October 2010
News > PiF membership news
Monday 1st November, 10am to 3.45pm
Medical Education Centre, Northern General Hospital, Herries Rd, Sheffield
S5 7AU
(This event had changed venue from Rotherham NHS Trust.)
The foundation for any consumer health information service is an effective, comprehensive and robust information strategy. A good strategy can help you to reach your audience with high quality, relevant information that helps them to manage their condition, self-care, adopt healthy behaviours and use services appropriately. A good strategy can also help you to manage your time and resources, develop streamlined and straightforward systems, manage risks and, importantly in the current environment, provide value for money.
However, feedback from members tells us that very few of you have a complete strategy for your organisation, that there are areas that are proving challenging and that you would like to learn from the work that others are doing. One of the key challenges for many PiF members is getting board level or management support for health information.
This workshop brings PiF NHS members together and, by providing room for networking, discussion and an opportunity to share experiences and documents, creates a ‘collective wisdom’ that will create a framework for developing an information strategy. Everyone can then use the framework as a template and adapt it for their trust or health board. Events are planned in other areas of the UK, and together we hope that the outcomes from these will produce a great resource for PiF members.
This workshop aims to:
- Explore and discuss the major elements of an information strategy, the important processes and standards to have in place and how make these work in practice
- Share insight, experience and work already done in these areas to develop a collective wisdom
- Produce firm recommendations to go forward into an information strategy framework
- Help you build your own contacts and networks and support each other
