Ruth Carlyle

Ruth is a chartered librarian and a health promotion specialist.  Her career has been spent in setting up, managing and advising on health information services and resources.  Her first post was as Information Officer for the Motor Neurone Disease Association, after which she worked as Manager of Information and Education at the Multiple Sclerosis Society and then jointly as Director of Education and Information for the National Eczema Society and as Health Policy Advisor to the Skin Care Campaign.   Ruth is working as Information and Support Policy Lead for Macmillan Cancer Support, advising on national public policy developments for cancer information in the four UK nations and managing national partnership activities.


Currently, Ruth is studying part time for a PhD at Birkbeck College, London, examining the changing role of public involvement in NHS governance.  She read English literature at Newnham College, Cambridge, and has completed Master’s degrees in: Library and Information Studies; Health Education and Health Promotion; and Public Policy and Management.
