Kate Llewelyn
Kate Llewelyn is head of information services at Arthritis Care – the UK’s largest charity working with and for people with all forms of arthritis.Kate has 15 years experience working in the information field and is passionately committed to involving users in the development of information. With arthritis covering such a large and diverse constituency (there are over 200 different types), this is essential to getting messages right. She introduced Arthritis Care’s hugely popular online discussion forums – a service which provides people with the chance to openly discuss issues with other people with arthritis.
Diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis at the age of 13, Kate has had to learn to live with a painful and unpredictable disease. The severity of her arthritis meant she had significant time away from school and received home tuition. She is acutely aware of the value of relevant, reliable and timely information to help enable people living with long-term conditions to become more confident about living a fulfilled life.
Kate is responsible for the strategic development of information services at Arthritis Care. She has been part of both the Information Prescriptions pilot project and led Arthritis Care to be an Information Standard founding member.
Kate’s arthritis affects every part of her life but she has always been determined not lot let it get in the way of enjoyment and success.
