PiF Profile

Greta Hughson

I work for NAM (www.aidsmap.com), a small HIV information charity that embodies many of the ideas the Patient Information Forum embraces. We produce clear, evidence-based resources for patients and professionals, rooted in the experience of people living with HIV. Our resources are used extensively in clinics, in support groups and independently by people with HIV. We have Information Standard certification.

I have an MA Hons degree in Languages (Interpreting and Translation) and I have been working and volunteering for health charities since I left University, including organisations working in mental health, cerebral palsy, polycystic ovary syndrome and sexual health.

In my current role I work closely with our designer and web developer on web-based information and tools, as well as the production of printed information materials. I also work on our translated patient materials (including a recent project to translate many of our materials into 17 languages). Day to day I manage our online content, our digital communications and social media presence.

I’m passionate about enabling people to make informed choices about their health and improving access to health information in its many forms.

I’d love to hear more about your work in patient information, so do get in touch. Feel free to contact me if you would like to talk through a project you’re planning or an issue you’re facing, or if you’d like to know more about joining PiF. PiF provides a great opportunity for us to share knowledge and expertise, so let’s make the most of it!
