Health information for children - challenges and solutions
Royal National Hotel, Bedford Way, Bloomsbury, London, WC1H 0DG
Wednesday 9th September 2009 at 0930.
This half day PiF workshop looked at the challenges and solutions around producing health information for children.
The workshop began with a presentation from Sheila Shribman, National Clinical Director for Children, Young People and Maternity Services, Department of Health and was followed by sessions about why information for children is different from information for adults and perspectives from one of the UK's leading children's hospitals and the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health. The workshop then moved on to look at the practical aspects of developing information for children, using different media and working with young people. Finally, there was a great discussion led by young people about good and bad examples of information giving.
An educational grant from NHS Choices has supported this workshop including five full bursaries. NHS Choices support will also allow for the future publication of a more detailed ‘How to…’ guide that will provide practical tips and pointers around the wider topic of health information for children.
