Patient Information Forum

Information as a Therapy

At the end of last year a number of PiF members met for an informal discussion around the topic "Is Information a Therapy?" Those who attended the event were from across the health sector with representatives from Government, the NHS, voluntary and commercial sectors.

The event, the first of its kind for PiF, was intended to provide members with a forum for the sharing of information, opinions and best practice. It was also aimed at encouraging a more collective approach towards the provision and improvement of health information and the role that PiF might play in driving this process.

The PiF ‘Is information a therapy?’ event was held as an informal roundtable discussion to ensure that all attendees had the opportunity for input and feedback.

All attendees were there because of their common involvement in providing health information, their drive to improve the quality and provision of this information and their support for PiF. The event provided attendees with an opportunity to hear and share best practice from colleagues in the world of health and social care.

This document summarises the discussion and potential outcomes highlighted throughout the event.
